A Planning + Goal Setting Alternative for Artists and Creatives

As someone who loves planning ahead, I’ve learned how to make the best out of my planning efforts. Oddly enough, I’ve noticed that planning through goal setting isn’t 100% reliable. We often set out goals through the sum total of other people’s vision. So how do we know if the goals we set are really OUR goals and not someone else’s? I feel it’s always important to look our past year, gauge what has worked, what hasn’t and why and from that, create a vision on which goals will likely flow out organically. In this episode, I’ll walk through my own process in planning your next year.

Prompts

  • What brought the most joy for you this year? What created the most anxiety?

  • What led to the best results, with the least amount of efforts? What felt most draining, using a large "amount" of efforts?

  • Considering your answers so far, what needs to be shed or changed? Conversely, what needs more of your attention?

  • What is your intention for the upcoming new year? (It can be a mantra, quote, sentence or picture)

  • What is your definition of success or freedom?

  • What is the overall vision (feeling) for your business?

  • What is the overall vision (feeling) do you have for yourself as an entrepreneur?

  • What are some boundaries you need to set and respect to be more balanced?
