Making your creative mind a softer place to be

This article is an excerpt from a past MONTHLY LETTER. Dear creative mind,

I wonder if you know how magical your creative mind truly is?

Your imagination and sensitivity bring a unique dimension of contrast, intricacy, depth, texture, colour, and perspective, which is indispensable in significantly impacting the world.Your creativity has a transformative power that makes the invisible visible, makes sense of ambiguity, mends the fragmented, opens hearts and minds, and transmutes pain into beauty.

Yet, the truth is, for many of us, our creative nature feels more like a curse than a blessing— taking your focus hostage, holding your dreams captive and keeping you stagnant— when in reality, it is undoubtedly a gift.

Allow me to share a secret: my creative mind is not always a peaceful place to be. I, too, feel that despite my best intentions to commit to a project, new ideas and question marks keep appearing like shimmering obstacles steering me away from the intended path. And if I'm not being careful, I can easily get lost within the labyrinth of my creative mind, running around in circles, endlessly chasing novelty or using imagination to my disadvantage— creating 'worst-case scenarios' and distracting myself with the 'what ifs'.

So, what is the key to making your creative mind feel like a softer place to be? It's to work with it instead of against it, befriend its gatekeeper (the infamous inner critic) instead of fighting it, and embrace the possibilities your divergent thinking creates instead of fixating on its limitations.

Dear creative mind, I want you to know there's no need to tame your creative mind for it is not flawed— it is an exquisite masterpiece. The challenges you face might be the driving force behind your profound creativity.

Finding more ease, peace and joy on the creative path is not about taming your creative mind or shrinking your truth into tiny boxes— it's about learning to use its magic to your advantage. Do not constrain your eccentric thinking— rather, embrace it and allow your creativity to soar to greater heights.

So, tell me, what kind of relationship would you love to cultivate with your creative mind?

Let's work together to unravel and untangle the knots you're navigating on your creative path. We'll take it one thread at a time to:

  • Distill your unique creative voice, identity and message

  • Unearth, clarify and ground your vision into reality

  • Create sustainable foundations for your creative work

  • Design simple strategies that support healthy growth

  • Dissolve self-sabotage patterns and find your creative flow

Ready to collaborate and bring your vision to life? Let's connect and create something momentous. If you're looking for support to unearth and manifest your creative vision, I would love for you to schedule a clarity call so we can talk through your current challenges and aspirations, and identify what kind of support may benefit you right now. I'm always happy to create tailored journeys to meet your needs.
